Garden Part 3: Furniture reveal and garden styling

I’ve been WAITING FOR MONTHS to bring you this post and I’m so excited that the time is finally here.

Our garden renovation has taken so long because we’ve been doing most of the work ourselves. It’s tough going but that’s what happens when you’re on a pretty tight budget.

That’s why I was thrilled when Wido got in touch and wanted to gift me a fabulous set of garden furniture.

Our back garden is no where near finished yet, BUT I’ve done my best to style the photos with what we’ve got currently. I’m absolutely thrilled with how these photos have turned out, and it’s amazing to have a glimpse into what our finished garden will look like when we have plants to fill the space.

Before Wido contacted me, I wasn’t sure what style I wanted to use in the garden. But the furniture seems to have decided for me! I chose the 4 piece black string set.

   

I think the chairs have an almost mid-century vibe with their square shape and sharp legs. The black is quite daring but allows me to be versatile with the colour scheme (when I eventually decide on one).

   

The fire pit was previously gifted by VonHaus and I can’t believe how well it matches the furniture. We haven’t had a chance to use the fire pit yet, but hopefully, if we have a few warm evenings next week, we’ll be able to test that baby out!

I love our new garden furniture. It’s so comfortable (which I was quite worried about, looking at those back rests) and looks wonderful.

We did have a few issues trying to put it together. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find the bolts in the box, but luckily, Jay has a tonne of tools that I always tell him we’ll never use…….and then they come in handy! Everything was easily labelled with stickers so we could follow the instructions quite easily. Once we’d figured out what needed to go where, it wasn’t too difficult.

 

Future plans

If the weather holds out on Sunday, I’ll be painting the fencing a grey colour, which I can’t wait to see! The decking will remain as it is.

I’m going plant shopping in a couple of weeks time. We decided against having any borders or grass, but are having lots of plants in pots. So, it’s time to buy the pots and the plants to go in them.

Then, following that, I’ve been DYING to get an outdoor rug. If you have any suggestions for good brands or good places to buy one, then please do let me know. Obviously, budget decor being my thing, I want a reasonably priced one.

The garage is still an ongoing issue – it’s not pretty but we didn’t want to have to knock it down and rebuild it because…money.

There used to be a door in that patch a while ago, which Jay took out and boarded up. The plan is to re-pebbledash it and then paint it all the same colour as the fencing to, hopefully, blend it in a little bit. It’s kind of ruining the vibe of the garden!

THEN, once the painting is complete, I want a big mirror to go there. I’ve spotted this stunning clock one from Greenfingers.

So, still lots to do and lots to buy until we’re happy, but styling the furniture is a huge step considering what the garden looked like six weeks ago!
