Top Interior Trends for Summer 2019
As summer approaches, it’s never been a better time to start thinking about sprucing up your interiors for the new season. We’re working on our garden at the moment, and I love seeing all the flower/garden inspiration that’s surrounding me. Last night, I watched footage from this year’s Chelsea Flower Show and there were some INCREDIBLE gardens that have been created.
Summer always makes me think of vibrant colours and chilled evenings spent outdoors with a fire pit and a glass of wine. So I’ve decided to take a look at some of the best trends that you can incorporate in your own home and garden this summer.
Stylish recycling and sustainability
You can’t get away from the fact that sustainability is a key talking point this year, and there’s never been a better time to incorporate it into your living spaces. I’ve talked about eco decor before, and always think about the sort of things I buy and what they’re made of.
Lots of designers are now turning to recycled materials to make their products. Look out for products made with recycled elements or try alternative sustainable materials such as bamboo.
This statue is handmade with clay and then glazed/painted which makes it a great sustainable piece of decor, as is the wooden box next to it.
Natural accents
Following on from recycled and sustainable interiors, natural accents are a great way to feature beautiful materials and subtle colours for a fresh look this summer.
Stripped back wood and muted shades that have an unfinished look are perfect for giving a barely-there vibe, yet offer a rustic and stylish finish when paired with contemporary themes.
The colour of the year – Living Coral
Pantone’s colour of the year, Living Coral, is the perfect shade for summer interiors.
Its warming ambience can be perfectly infused into a range of themes and works particularly well against earthy tones. If you have a minimalist vibe in your home, working in coral accents will help to brighten up the space without overpowering it. You will also find plenty of accessories and organic textures to mix with this trend.
Outside-in living spaces
As soon as the sunshine makes an appearance, we all start thinking about getting out into the garden. But as much as we love the summer season in the UK, the great British weather can be a little unpredictable, so why not bring the outside into your home this year?
If you have a patio space, you could choose a veranda or snug area that transitions from your property. Or perhaps you could invest in a permanent transformation and enlist the help of residential architects to design a space that integrates your garden area with your rear living spaces. There are a number of beautiful ways to make changes, and you can then enjoy the space whatever the weather.
Earthy ceramics
A big interiors accessories trend this summer focuses on earthy tones and artisanal ceramics to complement your home. This trend offers an organic feel to your kitchenware or dining spaces with embossed jugs, patterned vases and melamine dinner sets in matt shades and textured accents.
Alongside the popular tropical trends of the season, these subtle yet statement interior options create a ‘wow factor’ living space that can be easily transitioned into autumn/winter décor. It’s the perfect time to try something new in your home for summer, so now’s the time to experiment.
