Testing the MOOSOO MT710 Robot Vacuum [Review]

Let’s be honest, do any of us really enjoy cleaning? It’s something that we have to do if we want to live in a clean home, but it’s not something I ever looked forward to. Until now!

I’ve seen a few robot vacuums on the market, all offering various different features and options. This is why I was so excited to review the MOOSOO robot vacuum myself. As one of the best value-for-money robot vacuums on the market, I was concerned about its performance as well as how well it would manage some of the smart features, such as finding its charging station by itself. But I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised! Below, you can find my full review that should help you to decide whether the MOOSOO MT710 is for you.

How does it work?

The MOOSOO MT710 is a small but powerful cordless vacuum. Like a standard hoover, it uses suction to pick up bits of dust and dirt off the floor, but you don’t have to do a thing.

The vacuum has just one button on the front. To start up the hoover, simply press it once and it enters autocleaning mode. The miniature brushes on either side of the robot spin around as it goes to loosen any dirt from the carpet and sweep it into the vacuum, where it is sucked up.

Infrared sensors mean that the vacuum can sense any objects and stop before it hits them. While this function can be successful, more often than not, the vacuum will bump into the surface. However, it does this gently and the bumper pushes in so as to create less of an impact.

One of the main selling points of this vacuum is its smart features. By connecting the vacuum to your home WiFi, it can easily be paired with Alexa and Google Assistant so that both of these devices can be used to start up the vacuum. Simply speak your command aloud and the robot vacuum will get going. Alternatively, the smart home app can be used to start the hoover remotely if you really can’t be bothered to get off the sofa.

It’s really easy to both empty the dust catcher and filter by opening up vacuum using the blue button on the back. This is how much dust Ben (yes, we named him Ben) collected when we put him on for an hour.

What programmes does it have?

The beauty of the MOOSOO MT710 is the number of different vacuuming programmes it boasts. For the price of this vacuum (which I’ll come onto later), I was surprised at how many things it can do. These programmes can only be activated using the remote control, which comes with the vacuum, though I assume you could also ask Alexa to start up any of these too.

  • Wall

Wall or edge cleaning is when the robot vacuum only cleans the edge of a room. This is particularly good for those dusty corners behind the sofa that you can never quite get to with a regular vacuum.

  • Spot

Kids spilt cereal on the floor? Friends knocked the crisps bowl off the coffee table? When in spot cleaning mode, the vacuum will clean continuously on one spot, spinning in a circle until the spillage is cleaned up. Perfect for those moments when you want it to just clean a small area and not the whole room.

  • Turbo

I’m still not entirely sure what turbo mode does but I assume it means maximum power. This may be best used on carpets.

  • Full clean

I love the full clean function. What this does is sets the hoover going for two hours. Once those two hours are up, the vacuum finds its own way back to its charger, fully charges itself and then gets going for another two hours.

How does the MOOSOO work with the app?

I love that this vacuum comes with a smart app. It opens up so many more features that could make cleaning your house a doddle.

The ‘find my robot vacuum’ function allows you to find the vacuum when it’s become stuck or simply when you’re not sure what it’s up to.

Possibly my favourite function is the ability to draw out a map of your home. This is supposed to improve cleaning time by 20% as the robot spends less time finding its way and more time cleaning. The map shows the vacuum where doorways and walls are so it can clean a room much more easily. Once you’ve planned your map, you can also plan a route. Is there a particular room you want it to start in? Or a certain way you’d like the vacuum to go? Not a problem.

Finally, the app allows you to create a schedule for cleaning time, so you don’t have to remind Alexa to start the hoover or remember to do it from your phone.

How does the MOOSOO compare?

As I’ve already mentioned, there are a few robot vacuums on the market. So how does the MOOSOO MT710 perform in comparison to its competitors?

The MT710 currently has over 700 reviews on Amazon, with a total score of 4 out of 5 stars. While the Roomba also has a score of 4 out of 5 stars on Amazon from 100 reviews, but its hefty price tag of £350 may put it out of the running for those on a budget. The Eufy is the only other robot vacuum that’s in a similar price range as the MOOSOO but does slightly pique the post with a total rating of 4.5 stars on Amazon.

For the price of just £180, the MOOSOO still has an incredible star rating when other robot vacuums are three times the price.

So ultimately, the giant question is, is the MOOSOO MT710 worth it? I would say absolutely. If you’re after a budget robot vacuum that still has all those sought-after smart features, then you need a Ben in your life! I would add, however, that a robot vacuum doesn’t replace your usual vacuum. I find that I like to use the MOOSOO to keep on top of the rooms that have the most mess (like the kitchen after cooking) as well as those awkward places to reach, such as under the bed. But I couldn’t be without my cordless hoover either for doing the whole house thoroughly.
